About
I am Head of Psychological Research at the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT), and Visiting Associate Professor in the School of Psychology at Aston University.
In 2024 I was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in recognition of my teaching and leadership in higher education.
My research background is in human memory, cognition, and social influence, particularly in applications of these topics to educational and legal psychology. My work has focused on themes such as:
how people retrieve memories of past events, experiences, and information they have learned
factors that shape or distort what we remember/believe
how people respond to feedback about their skills, performance, and memories
how we can help people to remember more effectively.
My research has been funded by the Assessments & Qualifications Alliance (AQA), Leverhulme Trust, Wellcome Trust, European Commission FP7, College of Policing, Higher Education Academy, British Academy, British Psychological Society, and Richard Benjamin Trust.
